What time is it?

This ill be my first post in english, i hope everbody enjoy!

With one of my relative (like my grandfather) getting admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). In situations like this if any of your family members or your loved once get hospitalised it becomes difficult to cope up with the hospitals rules and regulations regarding the visiting hours for the family members to visit, which is very very limited. And this is the case of the hospital in question including most of the hospitals in Brazil. To add to this burden and mismanagement of the hospital I could only imagine the expenses to be paid to the hospital and its burden coming on to the family. I believe that many of the family members are either working for a living or are studying to make a living if not all.

Excuse me for my frankness, but it is ridiculous, I believe that many visitors feel uncomfortable with the visiting hours kept only on weekends, also the organisation does not think neither the patients nor the family members point of view to make some changes as per the convenience of the citizens of the country. I feel that the hospital’s management should be flexible in terms of timings or at least keep access on a daily basis also keeping in mind the mental stress on the patient hospitalised. My proposal or suggestion is not new, hospitals like in the state of Florida, USA, offer a chance to visit without such restrictions that are posted here in Brazil without appropriate reasoning, wherein, the welfare of the patient or the visitors are not kept alive. These cause enough mental stress and adds on to the burden of the patient as well as the family members. I do acknowledged that patient can be over burdened and his/rest could be of concerns in some cases, but then this could be relayed to the family members by effective management. From the viewpoint humanity and hospitality extended to both the patient and his/her loved ones should be accommodated by hospital.

Hospitals usually tend to pass the actual image that it worrying about the patient and keeping in mind of the rest need by the patients, but I hope it understands that the presence of the companion is of extreme importance to the state to recover the same. When I refer to the recovery, I will be clear that I do not believe an irreversible medical condition certified by physicians can change suddenly unless a miracle occurs, but it is consoling to ones companion who is living with those moments, knowing you can do what was within ones abilities for their loved one (the patient). Therefore, it is of great importance that the visits of the companions (however difficult they are for the entire medical staff) are seen as a positive factor for both sides (patient and their loved ones). In a society where time is gold and most appointments are always urgent, it is for hospitals to adapt to this reality.

Also a polite and courteous approach that it promise to display/it promise of it core values towards its patients and its family, I strongly feel it should not only promise but should be sure to implement this attitude change in all its employees, which is regarded as a misfortune. They are professional and matured enough to understand that these are right principles towards humanity/hospitality all around the world and should also be adopted in hospitals around Brazil. These are the standards that are met by being helpful and answer similar questions being already made over a period of times. There will be other professionals with more good will and intentions will love to work much better. There will be a time, when Brazil will have hospitals, which in fact will be flexibel and demonstrate that the values within these large institutions are actually put into practice and not forgotten during the limited hours for patients and their loved ones.
